A Tribute to 8 NE sister state - State animals

Celebrating Northeast India’s Wildlife — The MAD Genius Embroidery Series

Northeast India is home to some of the most unique and rare wildlife on the planet — many of them endangered, culturally sacred, and even protected under UNESCO sites and global conservation programs.

At MAD Genius, we’re celebrating this rich natural heritage through our new State Animal Embroidery Series — a wearable tribute to the creatures that make the 8 Sister States truly special.

From the mighty One-Horned Rhino of Assam (protected in UNESCO-listed Kaziranga) to the iconic Sangai Deer of Manipur (found only in Keibul Lamjao, the world’s only floating national park), each animal carries deep heritage, ecological importance, and irreplaceable beauty.

Many of these species — like the Hoolock Gibbon, Clouded Leopard, Phayre’s Leaf Monkey, Serow, and Red Panda — are classified as vulnerable or endangered, reminding us that celebrating them also means creating awareness.

Through textured embroidery, we aim to highlight, honour, and protect these symbols of identity — turning threads into storytelling, and fashion into a voice for conservation.
